To use its proper name, this cake is actually a Charlotte Russe
(French for "Russian Charlotte").
A 3"inch high cake consisting of rich mousse, encircled by freshly soft-baked ladyfingers. Mousse filling can either be chocolate, white chocolate, strawberry*, raspberry*, white chocolate-green tea or chocolate-orange.

History has it that this pretty cake was invented by a French Chef, well THE French Chef: Chef Marie-Antoine CarĂªme.
He was also known as the "King of Chefs and the Chef of Kings" - the founder of haute cuisine concept: high art French cuisine (yup, the basic concept to fine dining).
